The Hindustan Times reports that the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has made the Teacher Eligibility Test mandatory for physical education candidates in a new recruitment notification.

• The recruitment advertisement covers 17,735 trained graduate teacher posts across government-aided secondary schools.
• Aspirants state they have never been allowed to appear for the test since July 2011.

The recruitment includes 849 physical education teacher posts, split into 784 for male candidates and 65 for female candidates.

According to the Hindustan Times, the Delhi government food safety department destroyed over 400kg of food items in violation of safety rules during surprise raids at 13 premises in Nihal Vihar.

• Destroyed items included 265kg of rasgullas, 45kg of chhena, 80kg of milk cake, and 12kg of grated coconut.
• Teams collected 14 samples for laboratory testing and inspected unhygienic manufacturing conditions.

Separately, a drive at Mori Gate Khoya Mandi led to the destruction of 370kg of khoya and 150kg of chhena. Action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
